We got my Daughter one this Christmas. She still uses her Leapster, just wanted to get something more advanced. I do not know much about the others, but Leap Frog is a really great company! FYI-target always has Leapster games on sale on black friday. Go tomorrow and buy the ones you like and then head in Friday morning for a price adjustment. My son has the Leapster 2 and loves it. I don't know about the Explorer, but the Leapster 2 has games that keep him occupied, and it is very educational!
As for durability, it has been dropped plenty and still is as good as it was when he got it last Christmas. I recommend them to everyone! Add a Question Ask Login Toggle navigation. Birthdays Holiday Visits Marriage Milestones. Respond to Question. What can I do next?

I'm leaning towards that ixl bc it supposedly includes an mp3 player and my DS loves music so it would be fun to download that into it. I think I am going to head over to Target and let DS play with the systems and see what he is drawn to I just like the fact that the MobiGo and iXL have a lot more cartridges geared at the younger level You must log in or register to reply here.
For example, in the Toy Story 3 cartridge, a preschool children can move Buzz Lightyear through a maze simply by matching a letter. Older children might be asked to complete a short word of the variety they might very likely see on a spelling test, next fall. The game packs less of an educational punch than the Leapster Explorer, rarely straying from a drill or multiple-choice format. Also, it can save scores for just one child, compared with Leapster, which can save scores for four. Which one is best?
She has a 7 yr old sister, so she is pretty smart and is always wanting my 7 yr olds Ipod touch she saved up to buy it. Which one is best?? We thought these systems would be great for our three year old last year, but I was highly unimpressed with these toys and my son wouldn't even bother with them. He could figure them out easily, and got very frustrated with the others because they do not work as smoothly. They have some wonderful preschool games such as Backyardigans and even a "girls room" and "boys room" game where there are multiple games and drawing pads.
I hope this helps. We got the fisher price IXL and it was cool for a bit, but after a few weeks, it never got used again. You have to buy so many "books" at 25 bucks a pop to load on to it to even give it any variety, and even then I would say it wasnt too great.
